Durban - A man was sentenced to 25 years in jail by the Nongoma Regional Court on Tuesday for raping and killing his girlfriend, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
Mandla Zulu raped his 19-year-old girlfriend on December 25 last year, Captain Thulani Zwane said.
When she threatened to report him to the police, he strangled her.
He was arrested on the same day and charged. He had been in custody since his arrest.
