North West - Lonmin Marikana mineworkers released from prison regrouped and gathered at the Nkaneng informal settlement with their colleagues on Tuesday to map a way forward.

The group arrived on Monday night after they were released by the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate's Court.

They smiled, laughed and shook hands while waiting for the rest of the miners to arrive.

Over 200 striking mineworkers had already gathered at Nkaneng by 8am.

Negotiations between the workers representatives, mine management and the department of labour stalled as workers demanded nothing less than R12 500.

Talks were set to resume on Wednesday in Rustenburg. - Sapa
