Johannesburg -

Two suspects were arrested on Thursday at Itsoseng in Mabopane after they were found in possession of numerous bags of dagga and a police uniform.

Mabopane police received a tip-off about the suspects who had dagga in their house.

They recovered more than 20 bags of dagga with a street value of R120 000 stashed in a toilet.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Matthews Nkoadi said when they searched the house, they discovered a police uniform.

The suspects aged 23 and 52 were charged with possession of dagga and unlawful possession of a police uniform.

Police also found a police shirt and rank badge.

Nkoadi said two other men aged 39 and 50 were arrested for trying to bribe the officers so they would release the dagga suspects.

“They tried to pay the police R6 600 to release their friends. They were immediately arrested and charged with bribery,” he said.

The four suspects will remain in police custody until they appear in the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court.
