Durban - Senzo Meyiwa’s father says they are disgusted that neither Kelly Khumalo nor her mother had spoken to the Meyiwa family about what happened on Sunday in Vosloorus, at Khumalo’s mother’s house.

Meyiwa was shot dead while visiting hsi girlfriend Khumalo, the mother of one of his daughters.

“She likes to talk, she goes to the media and talk, she was supposed to phone us and tell us the story about what happened – but they did not do this, I do not want her at my house and I do not want her here,” Sam Meyiwa told the Daily News in uMlazi on Wednesday morning.

Khumalo is not welcome at her Meyiwa’s funeral and will be chased away if she dares come near, he said.

“I will ask people to chase her away, I do not want her, the way she is behaving – she likes to show off, she knows that Senzo hurt me because he had his own wife, it breaks all of me and she goes showing off that Senzo is her boyfriend,” he said.

“All the lies that we don’t want the baby are not true; her mother came here to bring the baby and report her and we even burnt traditional imphepho to welcome the baby. Senzo told us the baby was sickly and we accepted the baby,”

Meyiwa Sr said he was disgusted that Khumalo liked to show off her son, but had come to accept their affair because Senzo was determined not to end the relationship.

Meyiwa Sr said his son would still be alive if he had not been involved with Khumalo because he was supposed to have been to a team mate’s party with his wife Mandisa Mkhize – but he went to Khumalo’s house instead.

Khumalo has sent a message of support to the Meyiwa family, the Sowetan reported on Wednesday.

The statement read: “Kelly Khumalo and her family would like to express their sincere condolences to the Meyiwa family for the loss of Senzo Meyiwa, tragically shot at their family home in Vosloorus, in the presence of Kelly’s family.

“This has been an incredibly traumatic experience for the Khumalo family. As the law takes its course, they request that they be given space and privacy to deal with this tragedy.”

Meanwhile, the manhunt continues for Meyiwa’s killers, with the police releasing identikits of two suspects on Tuesday .

Two men were taken in for questioning, but police confirmed on Wednesday that they had not been charged and had been released as they could not be linked to the murder.

One of the men had presented himself to police and the other was brought in for questioning by metro police.

Gauteng SAPS spokesman, Brigadier Neville Malila, told the Daily News on Wednesday that no arrests had been made.

When asked if police were any closer to making an arrest, Malila would only say: “We’re following up on leads at the moment.”

A R250 000 reward has been offered for information leading to arrests and conviction.
