Johannesburg -

A 36-year-old man apparently testing the engine of his car was arrested for driving at 224km/h on the N1 near Midrand on Sunday, Johannesburg metro police said.

Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the man was caught driving a grey Audi Q5 at 2am.

“He told the officers that he was a mechanic and was testing the engine when questioned about the speed,” Minnaar said.

He paid R1 000 bail and was expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court soon. - Sapa
