Cape Town – The body of a teacher who went missing in Port Elizabeth early on Tuesday morning is believed to have been found.

According to HeraldLive, Jayde Panayiotou, 28, disappeared from outside her complex at around 6.30am on Tuesday morning, shortly before a colleague was due to pick her up.

A huge social media drive was launched to find the 28-year-old. A reward was also offered for her safe return.

It is believed two men abducted her and withdrew money from her bank account.

On Wednesday afternoon, HeraldLive quoted Eastern Cape police spokesperson Sandra Janse van Rensburg as saying: “This morning at about 10 o’clock, the crew of the SAPS [South African Police Service] helicopter participated in the search when they noticed an object in an isolated area near KwaNobuhle township in Uitenhage.”

It is believed to be the teacher’s body.
