Pretoria - Enraged residents of Soshanguve took matters into their own hands on Wednesday night and torched the house of a person they accused of killing Michael Phaleng, a taxi driver who went missing a week ago.
His battered body was found on Monday in Hammanskraal.
The angry residents began gathering in the township’s L Extension on Wednesday night, blocking roads with rocks and burning tyres.
“We want this woman and her family out of the community because they killed Michael,” said one of the residents.
The mob had earlier in the day confronted the taxi owner and her family, but after a heated argument the mob dispersed.
They returned that evening when they attacked the house, but scattered when the home owner allegedly fired shots at them.
