Johannesburg - Thoughts of how 4-year-old Reiger Park boy Taegrin Morris was dragged to his death by hijackers raced through her mind as a gun-touting hijacker drove off with her baby.

“My baby, my baby… they’ve taken my baby,” the desperate Soweto woman cried out while flagging down a passing BMW.

Fearing the gunman, the BMW driver and his passenger took her and her 6-year-old, who had jumped out when her mother was ordered to get out of the car by the hijacker, to a police station.

Tshidi Nakedi had just got home from her aunt’s house when she stopped to open her gate.

But just as she got back inside the car, a gun-touting man pounced.

“Voetsek s’febe (bitch)! Give me the phone,” the man yelled.

“I turned my head and realised it was just a young man with a beer in his hand… then he pointed the gun at me. I was so shocked,” Nakedi said.

She pleaded to unstrap her eight-month-old baby from the car seat, but he drove off with the baby.

Soon thereafter, a resident arrived at her house to drop off the unharmed baby with Nakedi’s sister. The hijacker had stopped the VW Polo 1.4 around the corner, put the baby on the curb and fled.

Captain Mpande Khoza confirmed the car was still missing.
