Johannesburg - A witness who was dating and was the last person to see Dunstan Blom alive, said murder accused Maruschka Robinson did not seem to care that Blom had been missing for several days in the days leading up to his body being found in the boot of his car at Montecasino.

Robinson and Jean Pierre Malan have been charged with murder but have pleaded not guilty to murder and aggravating robbery.

A witness, who may not be named, told the High Court sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Thursday: “I asked her (Robinson) if she had seen him (Blom) and whether they would join the search party and she said we are going to join the search party later … in a giggling way. Around 4pm I tried calling him (Blom) but his phone was off.”

Witness 7, who was dating Blom, said she mentioned that Robinson, who had been living with Blom, didn’t seem to care where he was.

“….she took out a small sack from the top of her cupboard which was called the party pack and Jean Pierre was doing a check list of drugs that were inside it…I asked her what the reason for celebrating was and she said they will have a reason to celebrate.”

Witness 7 also told the court that she was worried and thought that her ex fiancee, who had been threatening her, may have tried to kidnap Blom and that he was missing because of that.

Earlier, the court was shown footage of Malan and Robinson arriving at Montecasino, early hours of September 19 2013, in a white Volvo vehicle at the VIP section of the parking area, and then later using Blom’s card inside the casino.

Robinson and Malan pleaded not guilty to murder and aggravating robbery on Wednesday. However, Robinson pleaded guilty to five counts of fraud and to being present when the body was taken and dropped off at Montecasino. Her partner, Malan, pleaded guilty to nine counts which included fraud, attempting to defeat the ends of justice, as well as being in possession of identity documents that didn’t belong to him.

The pair admitted to using Blom’s cards and purchasing goods worth close to R10 000 and withdrawing R27 500 from his account.

The trial has been postponed to Friday and the accused will remain in custody.
