Johannesburg - A woman accused of murder has been active on Facebook from inside prison, where she has been held since being denied bail last year.

Her latest post was on August 24. In one of the many pictures she took in her cell and which she posted on Facebook in April, she is seen hugging stripper Maruschka Robinson.

The picture was taken before Robinson was jailed for 29 years two weeks ago for her role in the murder of Dustan Blom, whose decomposing body was found in the boot of his car at Montecasino in 2013.

Candice Prevost, her fiancé Ashley de Villiers and former fiancé Wayne Williams lured saleswoman Nthabiseng Selesho, 23, to their Boksburg home under the pretext that they wanted to buy jewellery from her.

Instead, they killed her, stole the jewellery worth R325 860, bundled her body into the car and drove about 60km before they doused the vehicle in petrol and set it alight. They returned home and sold the stolen jewellery to a pawnshop.

This is according to the indictment in the murder trial of the three.

Prevost, De Villiers and Williams, who lived together, appeared in the high court in Joburg on Monday for what was supposed to have been the start of their trial.

However, the matter was postponed to Tuesday.

According to the charge sheet, the three had financial difficulties and were battling to pay their bills.

Prevost was Selesho’s client, and she told De Villiers and Williams about her and how she conducted her business.

“Selesho sold jewellery by making appointments with prospective buyers and meeting them at either their places of work or residence using her private vehicle, a Peugeot.

De Villiers suggested that they make an appointment with Selesho at home and also proposed a plan wherein they would kill her and dispose of her car,” the charge sheet states.

De Villiers and Prevost allegedly bought three items of jewellery. But when Selesho returned to her car, Williams allegedly grabbed her from behind and shoved her in the backseat.

“De Villiers climbed on Selesho’s chest, pressed it down and also strangled her.”

Further allegations are that the three later drove away in two cars, Selesho’s - with her body in the backseat - and a VW Golf.

“They then lit a fire and set the Peugeot alight. As Williams was standing too close to the car, his leg caught fire.”

The accused have been denied bail since last September.
