Kimberley - The case of two Angolan men accused of smuggling dogs was postponed in the Springbok Magistrate's Court on Friday, Northern Cape police said.

The case would resume on October 29, Lieutenant Sergio Kock said.

Inocencio Da Silva Manuel, 35, and Joao Texteira Antonio, 37, were arrested while travelling to Angola at the Vioolsdrift border post on August 17.

They had 33 dogs in their vehicle and trailer, but allegedly only had export permits for 23 of the dogs.

The dogs included Boerboels, Huskies, and German Shepherds. Kock said most of the dogs were dehydrated and showed symptoms of malnutrition.

The men were released on R5000 bail each in August.
