Kimberley - The Northern Cape High Court sentenced a man to 14 years' imprisonment on Wednesday for the murder of his wife, police said.

Rankadi Emmanuel Tsilo, 43, was found guilty of killing Nthabiseng Anna Tsilo, 37, Lieutenant Sergio Kock said.

The couple had a fight in their shack on March 8, during which Tsilo assaulted and stabbed his wife.

Neighbours who heard the fight called the woman's mother for help as the shack's door was locked.

“When the woman's mother entered, she found the victim lying on the floor. She was badly bludgeoned and bleeding from her face.”

The 37-year-old died in hospital.

“The autopsy revealed that the wife suffered severe head injuries,” said Kock.

Tsilo husband handed himself to police the following day.
