Johannesburg -

North West premier Supra Mahumapelo on Friday condemned an ATM bombing and armed robbery at a petrol station in Mmabatho.

“Premier Supra Mahumapelo has strongly condemned the reported armed robbery and bombing of a Standard Bank ATM at Caltex garage in Unit 7, Mmabatho on Thursday,” his spokesman Sam Mokaila said in a statement.

Five armed people wearing balaclavas entered the shop at 3am and made five employees lie on the floor.

“The suspects then emptied the shop's till, before bombing the ATM outside and fleeing the scene with an undisclosed amount of money from both the ATM and the shop.”

No one was injured, but the employees were treated for shock.

“We urge the police to act speedily in finding the suspects,” he said.

North West police could not immediately be reached for comment. - Sapa
