Tonga - A case against a man accused of raping his four-year-old biological son was postponed by the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Monday, because the docket was not available in court.
The accused, 29, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim, has not been asked to plead and is out on R500 bail, a Sapa correspondent reported.
Magistrate Hazel Khoza postponed the case to October 17 for the docket to be available in court.
Prosecutor Sebotse Rapelwana told the court the case would be postponed until the docket was made available.
According to police, the rape happened during the June holidays when the boy and his eight-year-old brother were visiting their father in Langeloop village near the Swaziland/Mozambican border.
The two brothers live with their mother in Sikhwahlane village near the Swaziland border.
“They went to visit their father for the school holidays. Their mother learnt about the abuse of the four-year-old after the eight-year-old disclosed the matter to their aunt,” said police spokesman Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi.
He said the boy was taken to hospital where it was confirmed he had been raped.
A rape case was opened and investigated.
