Tonga - A 50-year-old Mpumalanga border officer who raped a 13-year-old girl was handed a suspended sentence in the Boschfontein Regional Court on Wednesday.
Magistrate Edgar Moletsane sentenced Dalton Zulu Nyambi, a senior SA Revenue Service inspector, to six years' imprisonment, which was suspended for five years, a Sapa correspondent reported.
“I find you guilty as charged for having sex with a minor. If you commit a similar crime within a period of your suspended sentence, it means that you will be locked up,” Moletsane said.
Nyambi had pleaded guilty to having sex with the 13-year-old girl during a drinking spree on September 10, 2013. He was arrested on December 3 that year.
