Klerksdorp - Four murder cases are being investigated in the North West, police said on Monday.

A man, 22, allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, 26, to death during an argument outside her house in Ipelegeng on Sunday, Captain Pelonomi Makau said in a statement.

“After the incident the suspect ran away and was later arrested.”

He would appear in the Schweizer Reneke Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

A woman, 27, in Jouberton allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death with a knife on Sunday, she said.

It was alleged the couple had an argument the previous night.

Police were investigating a case of murder.

The woman would appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on a charge of murder.

In another Jouberton murder, a suspect and two others stoned a man to death in Extension 27.

“It is further alleged that the deceased was found with his right ear, right upper lip and his nose missing at an open field,” she said.

The suspect would appear in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

The other two suspects were still at large.

In Vryburg on Sunday, Gawie Willeme allegedly stabbed a man in his neck, Makau said. The victim died in hospital.

Willeme, 32, appeared in the Vryburg Magistrate's Court on charges of murder on Monday.

He was remanded in custody and was expected to appear again on Friday for his bail application.

The North West police were concerned about the escalating murders in the province, Makau said.
