Durban - The case against a man accused of killing three Numsa members was postponed by the Eshowe Magistrate's Court on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

“It was postponed to December 12 in the same court,” said Major Thulani Zwane.

The 27-year-old man was arrested on Friday.

Three National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) shop stewards - Njabulo Dube, Sibonelo Ntuli and Ntobeko Maphumulo - were shot dead in Sundumbili on August 6. A fourth person was shot and wounded and was taken to hospital.

“Another two victims escaped unharmed. (The) motive for their attack is still unknown,” said Zwane.

At the time, Colonel Jay Naicker said the shop stewards had been on their way back from a union meeting in Durban, but he could not say whether the attack was union-related.

On Monday, Zwane said the motive for the murders was still not known.
