Johannesburg - Radovan Krejcir’s nemesis, forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan, has vowed to hunt him down and “ensure he is dead within 24 hours of his escape from prison”, if his escape plot ever succeeds.

O’Sullivan said he was only going to do this in order to protect himself.

“If I believe my life is in danger, I’m allowed to kill him in order to protect myself. It’s called justifiable homicide,” O’Sullivan told The Star on Monday.

“Given that he has attempted to kill me six times already and has regularly expressed his intention to kill me, it may be justified.”

The Star reported on Monday that O’Sullivan had helped the police foil Krejcir’s escape plot after they confiscated a pistol, ammunition, a knife, steel, a screwdriver, hacksaw blades and cellphones.

The items were seized during a dramatic raid at Zonderwater Prison on Saturday.

The police have denied claims that O’Sullivan helped them.

It is believed that Krejcir was planning to ambush police on his way to court during his next court appearance.

On Monday, O’Sullivan said: “His (Krejcir’s) life is in his own hands, and it is he who has decided to arm himself with unlicensed weapons, for the purpose of killing others. If a person lives by the sword, he cannot be surprised if he dies by the sword.”

Krejcir, a Czech fugitive, is facing a charge of conspiracy to murder O’Sullivan and top cop Colonel Nkosana “Killer” Ximba.

The police said they had foiled the assassination plot against O’Sullivan and Ximba in January last year.

“Eight people are charged with conspiring to murder me, and Krejcir was the architect of that failed attack in January 2014,” he said.

O’Sullivan said Krejcir had recently hired two people to murder him while behind bars at Zonderwater Prison.

He said the pair had been charged with conspiring to murder him.

He added that Krejcir was to be added as one of the accused in that matter. O’Sullivan repeated his daring declaration to kill Krejcir.

Krejcir is also facing several other charges. He was recently found guilty of kidnapping, drug dealing and attempted murder.

He and his co-accused were involved in the kidnapping of Bhekithemba Lukhele, whose brother, Bhekisizwe Doctor Nkosi, had stolen and fled with a large supply of drugs worth millions of rand belonging to Krejcir.

The drugs were originally set to be sold in Australia.

Krejcir is expected to be sentenced next month.
