Operation Fiela continues on Cape Flats

Cape Town - Police officers arrested 21 suspects and seized an assortment of drugs valued at several thousand rand during an Operation Fiela raid in Bishop Lavis and Bonteheuwel in Cape Town on Friday, police reported.

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk: “In the early hours of Friday, 29 May 2015, SAPS members, supported by Metro Police and the SANDF saturated Bonteheuwel’s gang ridden areas where they arrested the 21 suspects in gang strongholds.”

He said two suspects were arrested after being found in possession of ammunition including 191 R1 rounds while a number of suspects were arrested for drugs.

“Members seized 12 stoppe dagga, five MX tablets, one half MX tablet, 14 straws filled with Tik, 11 sachets of Tik and two parcels of dagga. At one house seven suspects were arrested for possession of the 11 sachets of Tik, and the possession of a suspected stolen motorcycle.”

Brigadier Christopher Jones, Bishop Lavis Police Station Commander, said: “I thank the members for their dedication and commitment. The operation was worthwhile. We are going to do this kind of operation again.”
