Rustenburg - Twelve people were arrested during Operation Fiela raids in Mahikeng, North West police said on Monday.

“The operation conducted by South African Police Service [SAPS] members together with immigration officials culminated in the arrest of four suspects for assault..., two for robbery, one for theft, four for possession of dagga and one for drinking in public. A total of 81 premises, 56 vehicles and 234 persons were searched,” said Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone.

He said the operation was held within the policing area of Mmabatho and Mahikeng between Friday and Saturday.

“The operations were focusing on areas where crime is higher than normal, and the police together with other law enforcement officials will continue with the operations to maintain stability, peace, law, and security following.,” Mokgwabone said.
