Johannesburg - Murder accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius' PR company denied on Thursday asking journalists to forward it their stories.
“It is factually incorrect that Vuma Reputation Management has requested journalists to forward their stories to our company,” said CEO Janine Hills.
It was earlier reported that the company had requested journalists to forward it their stories.
“Journalists are, however, free to send requests for information to the Vuma Reputation Management team that is handling this specific account,” she said.
Hills said that, on account of the delicate legal nature and sensitivities surrounding the court case, the Pistorius family would grant interviews and commentary only as and when approved and advised by Pistorius' legal team.
The company said it would provide the local and international media with daily statements and updates, which had been approved by Pistorius' legal team.
Beeld reported that the company was using Pistorius' website to post the “correct facts” about him.
The newspaper reported that Vuma Reputation Management had been appointed to work as a team with British spin-doctor Stuart Higgins, who would provide support from his London office.
Higgins told the Afrikaans daily it was untrue that his contract had been cancelled, and said it had been decided to hand over to Vuma because of his lack of experience and knowledge of the South African media. - Sapa
