Bloemfontein - Two men were sentenced in the Frankfort Regional Court to lengthy jail terms for rape, Free State police said on Thursday.
Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said Sello Michael Sibelwane, 29 and Edward Modise Makhubo, 26, were sentenced on Wednesday to life imprisonment for rape and 10 years for robbery.
He said the two raped a 23-year-old woman and assaulted and robbed her husband, 26, in Namahadi near Frankfort in November 2012.
They hit the husband with a bottle on the head and robbed him of cash and a cellphone while he was unconscious.
The two took turns in raping the woman.
Mophiring said the money and cellphone were not recovered but the two men were positively linked to the crime scene through DNA.
