No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing of two small children in Dobsonville, Soweto, Gauteng police said on Thursday.

“Police are investigating the matter and communicating with the community as part of the investigation,” Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.

A two-year-old boy and a three-old boy, and their 20-year-old mother, were stabbed during a robbery late Tuesday night at their home in Dobsonville Extension 3. Two men were believed to be involved.

The boys' 60-year-old grandmother was also cut on her forehead during the robbery.

The two-year-old boy was stabbed three times on his head, and the three-year-old was stabbed eight times on his body. The boys' mother received multiple stab wounds on her left arm.

Following the robbery, the children were taken to hospital for treatment.
