Cape Town - A young Cape Town woman who was four months pregnant was relaxing in her bedroom on Sunday afternoon when gunmen stormed in and shot her six times before fleeing.

Jade Casedy Daniels , 24, was shot four times in the chest and twice in the stomach at her Elsies River home and died from her inuries.

According to Facebook posts, the shooting of the young woman and her unborn baby was a “gang hit” to get to her boyfriend.

Ironically, Daniels was mourning the death of a friend just a week ago and wrote a message on her Facebook timeline tagged with a picture: “So much good memories we had as friends, till we meet again kido.”

On Monday, friends posted messages of condolence describing Daniels as “an amazing person”.

“Jade you were amazing woman was nice to know you RIP my dear friend,” wrote Alexis van Heerden.

While Chloe de Bruyn wrote: “A primary school friend lost in such an unreal and cruel way.”

On Monday when the Cape Argus visited the area some residents expressed shock at the brutal killing, while others didn’t know that Daniels had been killed.

“OMG, it’s a few streets away from me, heard the shots but didn’t know someone was hit. Wonder why she was killed,” wrote Levonna Liam Campbell.

Friends, family and neighbours gathered at the house to pay their respects on Monday.

Her mother, who was at the mortuary to identify the body, arrived later with family members.

Walking slowly with the assistance of family members she made her way inside the home. They were too distraught to speak to the media.

No arrests have been made.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
