Tonga - A Mpumalanga chef accused of supplying prison inmates with dagga was granted R500 bail in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

Moses Sibiya, 42, and his co-accused Mfundo Mqwathi, 18, would be back in court on January 7, a Sapa correspondent reported.

Mqwathi was kept in custody due to other charges he faced, including house robbery.

Tonga police spokesman Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi said the two were arrested after they were allegedly found with dagga at the police station's holding cells on November 7.

Sibiya had allegedly sneaked dagga to Mqwathi in his cell, when police saw the plastic bag sticking out of Mqwathi's pocket.
