A Mpumalanga rape suspect believed to be mentally ill on Monday told a magistrate she annoys him.

Fanie Ndlovu, 23, of Mangweni village near the Swazi and Mozambican border, pleaded not guilty to rape in the Tonga Magistrate's Court on Monday, a Sapa correspondent reported.

“I am not mad,” Ndlovu shouted from the dock, pointing at Magistrate Hazel Khoza.

“Uyanginyanyisa wena (You are annoying me),” he said.

People in the public gallery burst into laughter when Khoza ignored him and told him he would be transferred back to Weskoppies psychiatric hospital for further mental evaluation.

“Please Your Worship, I want to change my statement today and plead guilty. I am sick and tired of you always transferring me back to Weskoppies. I want to go home now,” he shouted.

Khoza ignored his outbursts and remanded him in custody until October 1 for psychiatric results to be presented in court.

Ndlovu was arrested on November 8, 2013, after a child was raped at his home. He has been in custody since then and was sent to Weskoppies. - Sapa
