A Free State male nurse accused of raping a terminally ill cancer patient in a Bloemfontein hospital last year appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
“The case was postponed to May 30 for further investigation,” police spokesman Sergeant Mamello Macheoane said.
The 33-year-old nurse appeared for a trial date to be set in the high court.
He was arrested after a 50-year-old woman cancer patient alleged she was raped during a night shift at the National Hospital.
The woman's husband told police the attack happened on October 15.
The patient, who has since died, could not identify a woman nurse who she said held her down while the male nurse raped her.
