Bloemfontein - Police on Thursday offered a R100 000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a University of the Free State student's killers.

“We have not yet made any arrests and so we are appealing to the community for information,” Sergeant Mmako Mophiring said.

Sinethemba Mkhululi Shezi, 22, who studied at the university's Qwa-Qwa campus, was murdered last month.

His body was found floating in the Elands River several days after he went missing. At the time, Mophiring said it was believed Shezi and a friend were attacked by eight people with iron rods while walking to the campus.

Shezi and the friend ran in opposite directions, which was the last time the third-year Bachelor of Education student was seen alive.
