Durban - One of the five accused of robbing the Somerset Park home of NFP leader Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi, who is also the deputy minister of Science and Technology, has been linked to another robbery in Glenwood in April.

In that crime he was charged with robbery with aggravating circumstances, but has yet to plead which means he cannot be named in connection with the allegations.

He is facing the same charge, for being part of the group who stole R500 000 from kaMagwaza-Msibi’s home in July.

She was not home at the time.

The five accused, Amina Vasco, Felix Khawuleza, Lindani Mhlongo, Sifiso Dube and Sifiso Khumalo, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court for the theft on Wednesday. Dube was granted R2 000 bail.

The prosecutor Nhlanhla Mkhize did not object to his bail application, saying Dube was not there when the crime was committed.

“According to the statements, he was approached by Khawuleza to find him someone who could perform a robbery and he had no further involvement after arranging a meeting between Khawuleza and Khumalo,” he said.

Mhlongo and Khawuleza were denied bail and Vasco and Khumalo abandoned their bail application.

The sixth suspect is still on the run.

The case was adjourned to next month.
