Mthatha – A policeman was shot and wounded on Tuesday, while responding to business robbery in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape police said .

“The members were responding to a robbery at one of the businesses in Main Street when they approached the scene they were shot at by suspects before getting out of their vehicle,” said Colonel Sibongile Soci. Police fired back and a shootout ensued, leaving one of the officers, Zilungile Dubula, 30, wounded in the upper and lower body, Soci said. Dubula was taken to hospital and was reported to be in a stable condition. “No arrests have been made and police are following leads,” said Soci. Police opened an attempted murder and a business robbery cases.
