Durban - Samurai sword double-murder accused Jayendran Sewnath was on Thursday found guilty in the Durban High Court. He had pleaded not guilty to killing Kevindran Naidoo, 25, and Sebastian Chetty, 22, with a samurai sword in August 2011.

Judge Yvonne Mbatha also found him guilty of robbery with aggravating circumstances. He had been charged with robbing his victims of jewellery, cellphones and R5 000 cash.

When Sewnath was arrested, police found R10 000 in his pocket, a previous hearing was told. He said he had cleaned the blood off the walls and floor of the Chatsworth house of his co-accused, Adrian Veeran, then helped to toss the bodies over a fence.

Veeran, who pleaded guilty soon after his arrest, is serving two life sentences for the murders, as well as 20 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances, concurrently.

He told the court Naidoo had owed him money. He and Sewnath had plotted to rob him.

When Naidoo arrived at the house with Chetty to pay the money, the men were lured into the house and killed. Sewnath’s case was set for November 21 for sentencing.
