SAPS offices burnt down in Mahikeng

Rustenburg - The South African Police Service’s crime intelligence offices in Mahikeng, in the North West have burnt down, police said on Thursday.

“The police registered an inquiry after a building occupied by South African Police Service crime intelligence caught fire today [Wednesday] at approximately 1:45pm.

“According to the information, one of the members went to investigate and he saw smoke coming from one of the offices and rapidly spreading to others. Members ran outside, one of them called fire and emergency services. The latter came and extinguished fire and was joined by another water tanker”, Colonel Sabata Mokgwabone said.

One person was injured while trying to gain access to the fire extinguisher.

The building is alleged to be completely burnt and the cause of the fire is yet unknown.
