Six held for drugs, guns and crayfish tails

Cape Town - Five suspects were arrested over the weekend in Cape Town for crimes including possession of drugs, crayfish tails, and an illegal firearm, police reported on Monday.

“Police conducted (a) crime prevention operation which led to the arrest of five suspects at a house in Glider Crescent, Kensignton,” said Western Cape police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.

Police found 30 mandrax tablets, 78 packets of tik (methamphetamine), 504 crayfish tails, and one firearm with the serial number filed off.

“All five suspects, aged between 21 and 45-years-old, were arrested and appeared at Cape Town magistrate’s court today on charges of possession of (a) prohibited firearm, possession of drugs, and possession of rock lobster,” said Rwexana.

Rwexana also reported the arrest of a 44-year-old suspect on the charges of illegal possession of a firearm and possession of tik after police pulled over a suspicious looking vehicle

“Police were patrolling when they saw a suspicious Citi Golf, followed the vehicle and arrested the owner,” said Rwexana.

The 44-year-old suspect was due to appear in court on Tuesday.
