Free State - Four suspects arrested for robbery and another two for possession of an unlicensed firearm were due to appear in court in early August for their respective bail applications, Free State police said on Tuesday.

“All suspects, who will be back in court on August 3 2015 for bail application, were arrested at the weekend during an operation conducted by Boithuso Detectives,” said Free State police spokesperson Warrant Officer Zweli Mohobeleli.

The four suspects arrested for robbery - Khotso Ramolohloane, Mosiuoa Motatamadi, Tsholofelo Tlhodi, and Pule Lesia - all appeared in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

On Thursday, the armed suspects allegedly threatened a shop owner before robbing the store of groceries, cigarettes, money, and airtime vouchers.

The other two suspects, Tsoloane Tsolo, 40, and Molefi Mosili, 34, also appeared in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday. They were caught in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol with seven rounds of ammunition.

“It is not clear at this stage if the firearm had previously been used in the commission of crime,” said Mohobeleli.
