Cape Town - Abdul Boonzaaier, the son of former Hard Livings gang boss Rashied Staggie, is once more behind bars – arrested for a fourth time on drug-related charges.

Boonzaaier has been out on bail in a pending matter in the Khayelitsha Regional Court.

In another separate case, he pleaded guilty to possession of drugs in September last year and was arrested again last December for possession of drugs.

On Friday, Boonzaaier shared the dock with co-accused, Dale America, in the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on fresh charges of possession or the use of illegal drugs. The pair had been arrested on Thursday and are accused of having two units of tik and a packet of cocaine. According to police they were arrested around 4.15am in front of a house in Woodstock.

They appeared briefly in court on Friday morning. The State said it would oppose their bail applications. The matter was postponed to Thursday when the Directorate of Public Prosecutions office will decide whether to attach the matter to the Khayelitsha court case.

In Khayelitsha, in the priority crimes court, Boonzaaier faces various charges.

Among them are charges related to the Prevention of Organised Crimes Act, dealing in drugs, possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition and possession of counterfeit bank notes.
