Johannesburg - A 15-year-old alleged victim of the so-called “Sunday Rapist” spoke of her nightmares on Tuesday.
“I got over it... but I sometimes get nightmares of him,” she told the High Court, sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court in Alberton.
The court ordered that the teenager, who was 12 at the time of the attack, not be identified. She testified in camera.
She was giving evidence in the trial of Johannes Jacobus Steyn, dubbed the “Sunday rapist”.
Steyn is accused of murdering schoolgirls Louise de Waal and Lazanne Farmer.
He is also charged with 11 counts of rape, 10 of sexual assault, 10 of kidnapping, one of attempted sexual assault, one of attempted kidnapping, and two of assault.
He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The 11 girls Steyn allegedly attacked between 2008 and 2011 were aged between 11 and 18.
The teenager said she was heading home from a shop in Vanderbijlpark in November 2009 when a man jumped out of the bakkie with a gun. She initially thought it was a joke.
He blindfolded her with a red balaclava and drove her to a unknown location where he made her lie down.
“He then pushed a vibrating thing against me... A vibrator... Between my legs,” she said crying.
He then told her to lie on the ground and he lay down on top of her.
“He didn't do anything...or I didn't feel anything,” she said.
Her kidnapper suddenly stood up and got into his bakkie.
“At first I thought he was going to run me over.” She called for him, but realised he was gone. She said she saw a man nearby, but was afraid he would also rape her. She eventually approached him for help and he took her to his sister, and they helped her phone her mother.
Her father testified that she did not cry when he picked her up, but he could see something was wrong.
“She has done better than we thought,” he said.
The last of Steyn's alleged victims to testify on Tuesday was an 18-year-old woman.
She confidently testified in detail, in camera, how she walked from her school in Rustenburg on a Monday in June 2009 when she was kidnapped.
She was 15 at the time.
“He said there were a few things I needed to do for him. I must co-operate or he would rape me, if I did he wouldn't.” He pulled a black balaclava over her head and drove her to a remote location.
“We later drove to another place, because he said it was too crowded.” Upon arrival at a second location she was ordered to lie down in a ditch.
“Walking to the ditch he told me I'm going to enjoy this.” She explained how he fondled and assaulted her before ordering her to stand up.
“He rubbed against me... When he was done with me I felt something running down my legs... His semen ran down my legs.”
He used a towel to wipe it off.
Afterwards he told her to continue walking along the ditch. He walked behind her, pulled the balaclava off her head and ran off.
She found her clothes and cellphone nearby and phoned her mother. After walking around she found a fruit stall and the owners were able to explain her whereabouts to her mother.
“I'm afraid to go anywhere alone,” she told the court.
Her mother testified how her daughter hysterically phoned her and said she was in a ditch.
“She was very shocked, very emotional, and she cried a lot.”
