Teen in court for dad’s murder

Brits - A 17-year-old boy accused of stabbing his father to death appeared in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Monday, North West police said.

Captain Pelonomi Makau said the matter was postponed to July 26, for a bail application.

He allegedly stabbed his 45-year-old father with a knife on Friday at their Hartbeespoort Dam home.

“The suspect, who was apparently under the influence of drugs, stabbed the victim on his back and chest and the victim died on the scene.”

The 17-year-old arrived late at home and his father questioned him for this, with an argument ensuring between the two.

Makau said the teenager's eight-year-old sister tried to intervene but she was also stabbed, in the throat and waist.

She was admitted to hospital in a critical condition and was still receiving treatment on Monday. - Sapa
