Johannesburg - The man accused of two brutal murder-hijackings, including that of a pregnant Soweto mother-of-two, could be linked to a third murder and robbery.

This emerged in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Mlungisi Wayne Twala, 24, is accused of murdering Charlotte Ramohai in Bramfischerville last month.

Twala and his co-accused Alex Ngobeni, 25, allegedly accosted Ramohai in front of her children, who are 7 and 12, in a hijacking outside the Khula Nolwazi Primary School.

The pair then allegedly shot the pregnant mother, leaving her to die as they sped off in her car.

The car was found abandoned in Dobsonville, the same Soweto suburb in which Twala was eventually arrested.

Twala and Ngobeni’s trial was postponed on Tuesday when prosecutor Marvin Booysen in-dicated that the pair could possibly be linked to another case involving a robbery and murder in Hillbrow.

Twala was also needed for an identity parade before the proceedings could continue.

Security was beefed up during their brief appearance and two additional police officers from the tactical response team blocked all the entrances to the court.

Last week, it emerged that Twala was facing charges in connection with an attack similar to the Ramohai incident.

He allegedly hijacked a man and his son in Mayfair last month and forced the man into the boot of his car.

The son was dropped off at an unknown location before the attackers abandoned the car in Dobsonville.

The elderly man died in the boot.

It is unclear whether he suffocated or died from injuries sustained during the hijacking.

Media reports identified the victim as 80-year-old Mohammed Darsot.

As it stands, Twala faces two charges of murder and two of robbery.

Ngobeni faces one charge of murder and a charge of robbery with aggravating circumstances.

The two were expected back in court on June 9.
