Johannesburg - Three men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a farmer in Addo, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.

The men were spotted at a petrol station on Tuesday morning by security guards from a private security company who called the police, said spokesman Sergeant Majola Nkohli.

“Police started to question the three occupants about the ownership of the vehicle. It was established that the bakkie belonged to a 62-year-old farmer from Addo,” Nkohli said.

“Police noticed blood stains on the back of the bakkie and after further questioning the suspects, one of them admitted to their involvement in an attack on the elderly farmer.”

The men took the police to the farm, and showed them where the farmer’s body was.

They are expected to appear in the Kirkwood Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday to face murder charges.
