Johannesburg - Police took positions in and around the Palm Ridge Regional Court where Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir and three co-accused are expected to appear on Monday.

The SA Police Service, metro police, and private security guards cordoned off streets leading to the court building.

Police were stationed inside and outside the court and asked people wanting to enter to produce identification.

Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, and two members of specialist police unit the Hawks - warrant officers Samuel Modise Maropeng and George Jeff Nthoroane - are applying for bail.

They face charges of kidnapping, assault, and attempted murder for an incident that allegedly happened in June.

The four appeared briefly on Friday after which the case was postponed to Monday.

There was no sign yet of Krejcir's wife Katerina Krejcirova and their son Dennis, or relatives of the other co-accused in court.

The relatives and Krejcir's family had been attending proceedings since the case started on December 2. - Sapa
