Mpumalanga - One of the country's top veterinarians Dr Rensia DeWet was found dead with multiple stab wounds at her house, Mpumalanga police said on Thursday.

Spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said police suspected she might have been killed on Tuesday but a post mortem would be conducted to reveal more information.

“She was found with stab wounds on the head, neck and breast,” said Mohlala.

DeWet was found half naked in the bedroom of her Nottinghill Equestrian Estate home. The house had been ransacked but police could not say what was taken or missing.

Mohlala said police were still investigating but could not rule out the possibility of rape.

“We are still investigating to establish if she was raped. The house was ransacked and everything was upside down. It appears the motive might have been robbery,” he said.

Mohlala said no one had been arrested and appealed to people who might have information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators to approach their local police station.
