Cape Town - Police have confirmed the identity of the woman who was killed in a robbery near Mzoli’s in Gugulethu on Sunday.

The woman, believed to be a tourist, was identified as Tiny Elizabeth Themani, 32.

It is believed that Themani, from Polokwane, was visiting the area when she was murdered.

Police confirmed that her cellphone had been taken by the alleged robbers. On Wednesday police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said no arrests had been made.

Themani was shot around 7pm on Klipfontein Road, also known as NY 108.

A witness told the Cape Argus Themani was apparently returning from visiting Mama Chaka’s new restaurant and was heading to her car, a Mini Cooper, parked across the street when she was shot.

Since the incident, and in preparation for a beer festival this weekend, business owner Mzoli Ngcawuzele has erected a tent and fencing to house his patrons.

After the incident, Ngcawuzele had been worried about the damage such crimes could cause to businesses in Gugulethu.

He said: “People should not behave this way because we need the business.”
