Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested while allegedly manufacturing drugs in Walkerville, south of Johannesburg, Gauteng police said on Wednesday.

The men were arrested on Tuesday night at a plot on Voortrekker Road after police were tipped off, Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini said.

“Drugs, chemicals and equipment with an estimated value of more than R12 million were confiscated.”

Dlamini said the garage on the property was allegedly used to manufacture drugs and the two men were found working there.

Police found chemicals in powder and liquid form, pots, gas burners, and powder ready to be made into Mandrax tablets.

They believed the two men were part of a syndicate involved in distributing drugs to various dealers in the country.

“More people may be arrested as investigations are continuing.”
