Two in dock for hijacking

Johannesburg - Two men arrested for allegedly hijacking a bakkie transporting electronic equipment appeared in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday, Soweto police said.

Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said their case was postponed to January 5, for bail application.

The bakkie was hijacked in Krugersdorp in the early hours of Christmas Day. It was later seen in Dobsonville.

“Police spotted the vehicle as it entered Soweto. Police approached and one suspect pulled out a firearm.”

The police shot and wounded one of the men. He was transported to hospital for treatment. A firearm was confiscated. - Sapa
