Johannesburg - Two men are expected to appear in the Tzaneen Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for suspected rhino poaching, Limpopo police said.

“Two young men will appear in the Tzaneen Magistrates' Court... after they were arrested for attempting to poach a rhino on a farm in the Letsitele area,” Colonel Ronel Otto said in a statement.

The pair aged 21 and 25 were arrested on Saturday after police followed up information about a possible rhino poaching incident in the area.

Police cordoned off some of the roads leading to and from the farm.

They stopped and searched a vehicle driven by the two men.

“Police confiscated two unlicensed firearms and ammunition as well as an axe and knives. The two men also did not have a driver's license to use the motor vehicle,” she said.

They will face charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. - Sapa
