Johannesburg - Two men have been arrested after being found in possession of five stolen cars – including a police minibus.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the arrests were made in Senoane in Soweto on Friday after members of the Johannesburg Crime Prevention Unit and South African Police Services Flying Squad acted after a tip-off.

“The two men who are in their early thirties had three Quantum mini-buses , one Corsa van and a Sonata car which were all stolen,” Minnaar said

The one Quantum was a police vehicle, which was stolen in March 2015 and which had been stripped of the police markings and resprayed white.

Minnaar said the same suspects had been arrested in April for having a stolen Ford Territory in their possession.

The suspects will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court soon on charges of being in possession of stolen vehicles.
