Two nabbed with khat worth over R200k

Cape Town -Police in Cape Town have arrested two suspects while they were offloading more than R200 000 worth of drugs from a truck on the N1 highway near Kraaifontein.

Police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said police attached to Kraaifontein SAPS were investigating a case of possession of Kha following information received from Crime Intelligence .

“According to the reports, today 30 July 2015 at about 10:10 two suspects aged between 30 and 40 were arrested on the N1 in a garage near Kraaifontein .

“The suspects, a South African and a foreign national, were arrested by the police while they were busy offloading drugs from the truck that came from Johannesburg to deliver the goods in Bellville.”

According to the information, the khat came from Kenya via Johannesburg to Cape Town. khat is also known as Mirra on the street and the estimated street value of the drugs that was confiscated was R223 000.

The suspects are expected to appear at Kuils River magistrates court on charges of possession of khat.
