Cape Town - The woman accused of abducting Zephany Nurse from Groote Schuur Hospital when the girl was just three days old, was back in the dock on Friday morning.

Tthe 50-year-old Lavender Hill resident, who may not be named to protect Zephany’s identity, appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court.

The woman appeared calm during Friday's short court proceedings.

The case was postponed to July 24 for further investigation.

As part of her bail conditions, the accused may not contact Zephany or any other witnesses in the case.

Zephany, who is now 18 years old, is staying at the Lavender Hill house of the accused's husband, the man she had believed was her father.

Zephany’s biological father Morne Nurse and his mother Zephra Nurse spoke to journalists outside court.

Zephra said her son was in pain.

“You heard the pain in his voice because his eldest daughter was stolen,” she said in Afrikaans outside the court.
