Johannesburg - Tik with an estimated street value of R6.7 million was seized at OR Tambo International Airport, the SA Revenue Service said on Tuesday.

A total of 22.6kg of the drug was found in possession of a woman arriving in Johannesburg from Dubai on Monday, Sars spokeswoman Marika Muller said.

The woman was identified for further checks and denied having any luggage.

“Her ticket however indicated that she had checked in luggage, and this was confirmed by messages on a cellphone in her hand luggage.

Airport staff found the luggage and handed it to Sars.

A sniffer dog reacted positively when led to her luggage.

“The luggage was then searched and found to contain six small plastic crèche tables (tables for small children),” Muller said.

“One of these was dismantled and found to contain a substance which has been confirmed as crystal methamphetamine (Tik).”

The woman and her bags were handed to airport police.
