Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal - A 29-year-old woman was expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrates Court on Monday in connection with the murder of her boyfriend in Nazareth near Pinetown on Human Rights Day.

“On 21 March at 12:00, police responded to a complaint of murder in Nazareth where they found a deceased male [26] lying outside a house at Mkhize Road,” KwaZulu-Natal police said in a statement on Monday:

“The deceased sustained one stab wound on his chest. It is alleged that the deceased was fatally stabbed by his girlfriend after an argument. She was arrested at the scene and charged for murder.”

Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni, applauded police officers for the speedy arrest of the suspect.

“We will ensure that the perpetrator has her day in court,” Ngobeni said.

“A large percentage of our murders are as a result of random acts of domestic violence such as these.”
